What's in your /etc/fstab? 

Here's the SCSI burner (SONY CRX-14something) entry in mine:

> # Device		Mountpoint	FStype	Options		Dump	Pass#
> /dev/cd0c		/burner		cd9660	ro,noauto	0	0

If you don't have it marked "noauto", then you should.

I realize it's marked "R", but it still burns.
