When FTP timeout, I also have a problem with telnet. However, after some time both will start working again, without any changes being made to the system. First, let me say thanks for your reply.  When FTP timeout, I also have a problem with telnet.  However, after
some time both will start working again, without any changes being made to the system.  I hope this help shed

It's hard to say, but when people have these types of problems it is
usualy a DNS problem.  Be sure you can lookup and reverse lookup all
hosts from all sides.

Is is just FTP?  What about other services?  Can you telnet to other
open ports and speak the corresponding protocols?
