What happens when using NEWCARD? I've booted my VAIO and it did work, but I no longer use it under freebsd as a general rule. I don't have a lot of recent freebsd experience with the VAIO since I had two of them, and I had to press my FreeBSD one into service as a windows box for a variety of stupid reasons.
