So I checked the domain and didn't get what I expected. Thus I verified using the NS of an ISP and lo and behold, that one could find the true data. These boxes have been running quite satisfactorily for over a year and then some. But 4.6 for not even a month, so I got thinking ;). It is pretty darn sure that the ISP does not run 4.6 if FreeBSD at all, I haven't had this error in a long time, so could there be a link? Pretty darned straightforward named.conf with a sandbox and no forwarders. nslookup gives the informative "Non-existent host/domain" error message. dig produced the following: nl:/home/www/eboa/yao/ActiViti/Setup# dig @ns1.nisser.com gate3.oss.akzonobel.nl. any ; <<>> DiG 8.3 <<>> @ns1.nisser.com gate3.oss.akzonobel.nl. any ; (1 server found) ;; res options: init recurs defnam dnsrch ;; got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NXDOMAIN, id: 4 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 1, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUERY SECTION: ;; gate3.oss.akzonobel.nl, type = ANY, class = IN ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: akzonobel.nl. 1h39m18s IN SOA ns1.akzonobel.com. postmaster.ns1.akzonobel.com.
