actually, according to the handbook I do have an sbc device.  It says:
"If you have a PnP ISA card you will also need to add: device sbc"

My dmesg doesn't mention anything that wasn't in it before I added the
AWE64.

Is the handbook completely screwed up?  I followed it exactly.
