After 2 years there are still disclaimers about using the DSO method in the 
Apache docs.  Even with mod_so in modules/standard.  For the most part I 
customize the port to statically compile in used modules.  Even with a few 
DSO's used, request rates of 2 per second, and heavy CGI don't see any 
problems.  YMMV

It would be nice for the future mega-Apache port to allow for DSO and 
static compilation.  Don't have a problem either way, but someone might ask.
