I was able to test a recent kernel, as of Monday, Feb 23 including this cvs commit: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/sys/ia64/ia64/machdep.c?rev=1.176&content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markup on a Intel Tiger 4 box, which is also based on the same chipset. Without the above change, you'll typically see the machine reset during bootup. -Arun
