Minor point, but you only need LIBICONV in the kernel since
libmchain is available as a module in 4.4-RELEASE (and thus
in 4.4-STABLE too) :

 8 -r-xr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  7876  7 oct 22:57 /modules/libmchain.ko*
