The codebase is "vanilla" CURRENT - means without local changes or additions. In my case, AHCI driver and CAM are built-in. I also realise that only more "modern" systems seem to get affected. The box in question is a LGA1155/Z77 system with an additional SATA 6GB controller, which I susepct "owning" the ahaci channel7. The P45-based boxes with the same CURRENT do not expose this phenomenon.
