If this is a driver for XFree86-4, then you don't need the linux emulation, they are designed to be OS independend so you are able to use them on every OS with the same machine architecture. At least this is how it is intended to be. If some does some nasty things in a driver, it may get OS dependend, but then this is a "bug".
