Next days I'll check out all other ports that depend on Hermes, to see wether they allow to be compiled without Hermes. It would be perfect to add the similar patches to them. And moreover I'll suggest to add a prebuild notice to Hermes port which says something like: "The Hermes library doesn't properly work in an environment where X server and clients run on computers with different endianess. You might encounter a strange color effects. Would you like to continue ?YES/NO: [NO]" Best regards -- Vahe Khachikyan --- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Miguel Mendez" To: "Vahe Khachikyan" Cc: ; ; Sent: Tuesday, November 26, 2002 1:16 PM Subject: Re: Hermes-1.3.2 is buggy on 64 bit platform > On Mon, 25 Nov 2002 22:22:59 +0100 > "Vahe Khachikyan" wrote: > > Hi again, > > > Hi > > I have exactly the same situation cause I'm running the X server on > > x86 machine :-) > > > > To : port maintainer: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE remove forcing the > > dependency on Hermes library from port collection there are already a > > dozen of ports depending on it.
