You can try sysctl hw.snd.default_unit=0-to any number.

To get my mic working sysctl hw.snd.default_unit=1

ls /dev/mix*
/dev/mixer0     /dev/mixer1     /dev/mixer2     /dev/mixer3

Choose wisely.
