Cheap polish and > tram conductor humour ;-) >Gavin I was thinking orchestra conductor :) But anyway... I am relatively new to FreeBSD; I hope that you will forgive my potentially doltish questions. I am running 4.6-RELEASE with a Linksys Prism-3 card in hostap mode. My throughput from a Win2K client with a Lucent Silver card is dreadful. Netstumbler show that the connection is dropping (up to) dozens of times per minute. I've seen reports that going to 4.6- STABLE might or might not fix the throughput problem. I don't see any coffee cans (or poles for that matter), though I do live in an apartment complex. I don't know if there are any 2.4ghz phones near. Is the Prism-3 chipset the trouble? I use the Win2K box to connect to other networks (Cisco in particular) without trouble. Can anyone suggest some steps to take to troubleshoot this? I have included output from wicontrol/ifconfig/dmesg for your perusal... Thanks!!
