I apologize, my words were probably a bit harsh. I'm very sorry for that. I agree that it would be useful to add strftime() to our version of awk. I would be willing to implement it myself and send-pr a patch (i.e.: yes, I volunteer), but only if such a feature would be accepted and commited.
