OS FreeBSD 4.5-PRE, cvsupdated yesterday, installed yesterday, the same happens with 4.4-REL and 4.4-STABLE >Description: The port of cdrtools produce unreadable CD ROMs with two of our FreeBSD boxes used to write ISO images. Three weeks ago, on both machines (one, as shown above has a TEAC CD-R55S, the other ( a K6-2/550 machine) has a PLEXTOR burner: cd0 at ahc1 bus 0 target 0 lun 0 cd0: <PLEXTOR CD-R PX-R412C 1.07> Removable CD-ROM SCSI-2 device cd0: 10.000MB/s transfers (10.000MHz, offset 8) ) it is imossible to get ISO images gotten from ftp.freebsd.org or created by mkisofs burned on a CD-R! The problem occured synchronously on both machines with introduction of cdrtools (priorly I used cdrecord-port). The process is always the same: 1) I download the ISO image or create one with mkisofs. I check validity of the image by turning it into a virtual node and check it (or burn it on an ATAPI CD-R). 2) I enter command "cdrecord -v speed=4 dev=2,6,0r|/dev=1,0,0 fbsd-rel.iso" to burn the image. 3) I get normal output from cdrecord and it shows a normal status on progress. Then I try to mount the freshly burned CD ROM on several systems (all different machines and different OS). On all FreeBSD boxes I get the following error: cd9660: /dev/cd0c: invalid argument On Win2k/XP boxes I get an error about an unknown filesystem. Trying to burn an image read by "cdread" results in this: mount: cdrom: unknown special file or file system (this is a bootable CD-ROM with WinXP (we have a SELECT contract, don't panic)). I examined the recordable CD and I can see that there are information burned down (you can see this by some refractive light phenomenons watching the surface in light). Well, the cd recorder seems both to be all right and it is really unlikely that they died the same time, the same hour, the same minute! It seems to me that cdrtools did some major changes in the drivers, so our older CD-R aren't supported now. >How-To-Repeat: Take one of these mentioned CD-R, install FBSD 4.5-PRE and install cdrtools 1.10_1. The take any kind of working ISO image preferreably 4.4-RELEASE image from FreeBSD.org. Try to burn it ... >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
