Please give us more information !
Which FreeBSD ?
Which hardware (cpu ?, memory ?, isa/eisa/pci-bus ?, ide/scsi-disk ? ... )
Which installation medium ?

Sounds like wrong driveparameters in your biossetup or perhaps
you try to install behind the dumb DOS 1024 cyl limit .
