For scanners support look here:

Not an expert but for multi-devices the USB subsystem must also recognize
the different devices on the same wire so it behaves sort of like a hub.
Sometimes is an issue, sometimes not. Just as a helper in deciding I have
seen that Samsung and Xerox are mostly the same inside. Not sure if this is
currently the situation but it has been in the past.
