You must be new to FreeBSD. "Unmaintained" is our way of saying "they
don't work". With 4.0-Release (upgrade already!) you already have
newpcm, (old)pcm was used in FreeBSD 3.x. I know the Voxware drivers
don't work in 4.0 because I actually tried to use them (I needed full
duplex audio and was stuck with 4.0-Release).
