binutils will not be in FreeBSD until we adopt ELF.  I suggest trying to
port over the necessary changes from your gas to ours and submit patches
using send-pr.

NO, don't do that or you'll destroy your build toolchain; you'll have to
reinstall the system to rectify the damage.
