Hello, I am (was) running FreeBSD 3.4 on my PC here and I figured it was time to upgrade, one way or another, to 4.3. I tried one way and others, eg. new install, upgrade, but whenever I do something with 4.X I end up getting a kernel panic the moment ep finds my 3c509b card: ep0: <3Com 3C509-TPO Etherlink III> at port 0x300-0x30f irq 10 on isa0 ep0: Ethernet address 00:10:4b:01:63:67 ifmedia_set: no match for 0x25/0xffffffff panic: ifmedia_set From the mail archives I read I should take this route: 3.4->3.5-stable->4.1.1R->4.3R and the above is what happens after I reboot after installkernel (3.5->4.1.1). It's also what happened when I tried to install 4.2 from floppies. I've also read I need to disable PnP on the card which I also have done (if not it finds it at irq 5). I've also disabled anything that was on 0x300 so I wouldn't get any conflicts. Right now I am in the mood for completely disabling the card altogether as I don't know anymore. In 3.5-stable the card shows up like this: 1 3C5x9 board(s) on ISA found at 0x300 ep0 at 0x300-0x30f irq 10 on isa ep0: utp[*AUI*] address 00:10:4b:01:63:67 Who knows more than me and would be willing to help me out?
