Incidentally, I was slightly surprised to find a connection when I first
started 1.17.13 (before I touched any part of the interface).=20

I had done nothing more than plug in the adapter. Slightly surprised to fin=
d an
automated connection where there's NOAUTO for the interface.=20

Does this smell like a bug in FreeBSD base?
