I read something on a Sun-related newsgroup about someone bending out a
pin on an EEPROM, and then powercycling the machine, as a last resort.

This was critisized by some other guy, since it broke 3 out of 4 chips
or so, and a trick was explained.
A screwdriver was used to short-circuit the chip while powering up.

I mention this because I remember something about it, and sincerely hope
it will not be necesary!

On the Sun-related Usenet groups there is a couple of guys who know the
exact procedure.
