Overall, I like the way the new design's laid out. The uneven columns of the current homepage don't look quite right. (That layout may be common for newsletters, and I've seen many web pages that look like newsletters, but the current homepage doesn't come across that way.) One thing that really does bug me about the new design is that it forces you to have a certain browser width. The right column of text doesn't word wrap. I can resize my browser horizontally all I want with the current home page and it still comes out more-or-less OK. That has *got* to be fixed. The oval ``buttons'' at the bottom might work better if they were consistent: one of them doesn't have the word ``FreeBSD'' in it. Maybe they should be labelled: Download FAQ Handbook True, `download' isn't appropriate, but it probably makes sense to more people than `Getting' or `Install'. Have you considered alternative fonts? Sans serif headings might look nice. Also, a simple bullet for the lists on the left hand side might help, as also a tiny warning that the Newletter link is a PDF file (a tiny PDF icon, perhaps?). In the left column, the Quick Search appears too far above the entry field. Is the RCS $Id$ really necessary? Finally, I'm glad to see the text I wrote some time ago is still getting good use. :-) Thanks! Take care. --Sean To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-doc" in the body of the message
