If you're using XFree 4.x, you need to install /usr/ports/x11/wrapper,
then create a ~/.xserverrc with the line:

exec Xwrapper :0

Then you should be able to start X as a non-root user using the command
startx.

If you're using XFree 3.x, Xwrapper should already be installed.  Just
create the ~/.xserverrc as mentioned above.
