I suggested it in "Installing and Running FreeBSD", and Jörg came down on me and pointed out this problem. Now if it happened to you or me (or even Jordan :-), we could solve the problem. Put somebody new to FreeBSD in front of the keyboard, and he's likely to get the screaming heebie-jeebies. There's a simple way to avoid the problem (start it from rc.local or xdm/Xservers), so why recommend this one? Of course, that certainly doesn't invalidate the "if it works, don't fix it".
