The term deamon , in it's latin roots, refers to a higher power, good or bad. In UNIX it is recognized that there are good and bad deamons. I have a clear understanding that FreeBSD is not related in anyway to evil or devils, but probably our mascot will not gain acceptance in certain countries where religious issues are really important (Israel, Iran, Irak...). I just saw this M$ banner (hope it was copied well): http://www.netcraft.com/cgi-bin/Survey/forward.cgi?id=860164991&url=/ads/msft/mar/zakc.gif It is too optimistic, but is Microsoft referring to BSD's mascot? Perhaps the CD cover should make clear we are not evil, but anyway there's also a an email message going around (author unknown) that can help draw more interesting conclusions: _________ If you add the ASCII numbers corresponding to Bill Gates' name, that is B,66; I,73; L,76; L,76; G,71; A,65; T,84; E,69; S,83 and a 3 (His complete second name is Gates III) it all adds 666 (the number of the beast). Other famous terms: MS DOS 6.21 77+83+45+68+79+83+32+54 = 666 Windows 95 87+73+78+68+79+87+83+57+53+1 = 666 _________ Be afraid, be very afraid... --Pedro
