(Though AIUI they still have FBSD servers, don't they?:) I hear from my Significant Other that my 4.4-release CDs have arrived, and plan to use this opportunity to take advantage of dirprefs. What I'm thinking of is installing 4.4-stable from CD on main HD (20gb); upgrading to 4.4-stable with cvsup; dumping to small HD (2gb); newfs main HD; restore from small HD to main HD. My understanding/experience of FreeBSD is limited. I've never done dump/restore before, and I don't understand this from the restore man page: "A level zero dump must be done after a full restore. Because restore runs in user code, it has no control over inode allocation; thus a full dump must be done to get a new set of directories reflecting the new inode numbering, even though the contents of the files is unchanged." Should I run another dump after restoring to the main HD? Dump from where to where? Advice on what to do or where to go to get the info appreciated.
