to wit:

   $ mkdir foo
   $ ls -ld foo*
   drwxrwxr-x  2 bonomi  user  512 May 30 11:21 foo
   $ mv foo foo2
   $ ls -ld foo*
   drwxrwxr-x  2 bonomi  user  512 May 30 11:21 foo2
