hello, I am new to FreeBSD and sort of new to UNIX administration. I managed to set up a firewall with natd and ipfw, now I am trying to setup a DNS Server to do two things: 1) act as a DNS cache for my local network, 2) act as the web server for a domain name that I recently bought and allow my to receive and send mail with the domain name. I've been browsing through different documents on the internet but I don't have a clear picture of what is actually involved here. I have enabled the named in my rc.conf and started it but I'm not sure if everthing is set up properly. Is there a command that shows me what exactly is working and all the details? One thing I'm confused about is the difference between being a domain name server for my local network and being a web server for the domain I own. Any help would be appreciated or if you could just point me in the right direction . . . Thanks. kevin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
