Two month ago I temporary switched back to Debian GNU/Linux, which is supported by my hoster, and the crashes/hangs/whatever continued. While this doesn't proof that there is no Tor-related bug in FreeBSD, it certainly looks like my problems were caused by faulty hardware or other external factors. I'll try FreeBSD again once the server is fixed.
