Appears to have been fixed in git commit 32a6b38c233 on Sunday, March 24th.

The commit doesn't use a new patch file, it adds a Makefile target for
post-patch that replaces "File.exists?" with "File.exist?".  But it appears=
 to
fix the problem, and after updating portupgrade from ports it continued to =
work
with the remaining updated ports.
