This could be a pine questions, not really a FreeBSD questions, but here goes. Whenever I start pine or pico, it pauses for a second or two before it does anything, beeps at me, and displays a line at the bottom with a bunch on nonsense characters which I can't enter into this window; they seem to come across as control characters; things like the Spanish upside-down question mark, letters with various accents, etc. I checked my .pinerc file, and no character set was included; I tried setting it, as the comments say, to US-ASCII, but no difference. This didn't used to happen; it started a while ago, and it's finally gotten to the point that it's really annoying me. I'm running a pretty vanilla 2.2.5-STABLE system, as of about a week ago; this happened also during at least my last 2 cvsup's, which were in October and September; I don't remember before then. I remember that there was a time when this never happened, and then it started popping up intermittently, and now it's constant. Any ideas? *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* | FreeBSD; the way computers were meant to be | * "The only reason I'm burning my candle at both ends, is * | that I haven't figured out how to light the middle yet."| * fullermd@keystone.westminster.edu :-} MAtthew Fuller * | http://keystone.westminster.edu/~fullermd | *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
