But this causes the emacs ange-ftp package to behave abnormally. There is a "progress" toggle command, but no command line option. "-V" is supposed to turn of verbose output, but the progress meter -- which is surely verbose -- remains on. (I claim this is a bug.) Anyone have a fix for this -- either a way to not use the progress meter by default or a way to set up ange-ftp to issue the "progress" command? thanks.
