As the message clearly states, 32-bit CardBus cards are not supported by FreeBSD V4. They will be supported by 5.0, but that is almost a year away. Most any 16-bit non-WinModem card will work. The key it to check on whether the modem is supported on any system other than Windows (e.g. DOS or OS/2). A quick check is to scan the list in /etc/default/pccard.conf for sio devices.
