You can recover from this problem by restarting inetd.

I don't know.  A number of ``fixes'' were bandied around, but there
was so much discussion that I can't recall if any of them was the
final fix.

No.

I don't know.  But some fixes were committed to -current about 10 days
ago which claim to have fixed the problem.  Since then I haven't had
any problems.
