The folks that make that kind of hardware aren't going to certify more than ONE os for it to make life easier and more profitable for themselves. Remember, our modern military is very much a hostage to the military suppliers idea of how the equipment is to be built. The armed services may get to have a say on the big specs "it must shoot and blow things up" but the implementation details are controlled by the profit margins of the suppliers.
