Peter's handy hint #117:
  'cvs commit -f mdoc.7' can be your friend.  This forces a 'zero changes' 
commit..  You can put the "oops, previous commit should be: ...." on the 
actual file so that 'cvs log' contains more meaningful info.  Replying to 
a commit message pretty much ensures the comments are lost after a while.
