IMHO, A command sequence to auto-magically handle configuration files installed by ports/packages for 'packaging list' files will make the life much more easier for ports/package maintainers.

For example:

@conf etc/yate/yate.conf

I'm not a seasoned programmer, but I think the behavior of this should like mergemaster.
