I run Linux and configure everything by command line. I'm not aware about anything, even not dconf, that requires a GUI. However, it's possible to not use junk at all. I don't use some software on what ever OS I use. Even using Gnome doesn't require to use gvfs, pulseaudio and similar things, let alone that I never ever would use Gnome or a desktop environment at all, if all I need is a window manager. What ever OS we are using, each OS requires the user's self-responsibility. Use the right tool for the task and that fits your work-flow, taste. I wouldn't use FreeBSD for real-time audio production, on the PC I'm using Linux for this purpose and now the bomb drops, for the tablet PC I'm using iOS for real-time audio production. The tool shouldn't suffer from ideological reservations, it should be the optimal tool for the task. Btw. somebody mentioned "man", I never run a Linux without man pages. A lot of claims are just FUD. Regards, Ralf
