Just downloaded 3.0-RELEASE to a 486 box here in the lab, and noticed
an odd behavior: the "thermometer" display, which appears when files
are being transferred, jumps forward and then back a little. Then
forward again, and back a little. And so on, as the files continue
to load.

I don't think this is the intended behavior....
