The major differnce between FreeBSD and Linux (besides the fact that
many programs are actually differnt versions) is that in FreeBSD
there is no distinction between kernel sources and sources for  (say) ls.

they all live in the same source tree and are all fetched from the same
place.

how you get the kernel sources updated is up to you.
you should look up  references on CTM (which delivers daily diffs)
CVSUP which you run once a day to get the changes done that day,
or just the ftp mirrors, where the lates versions will be available
(in compressed cpio'd form)


(look these things up in the FAQ,and the Handbook under 'keeping up to
date' (I think).
