You can do some research to find the problem: 1. search the logs. 2. Run ps/vmstat/iostat/netstat to see what happens. 3. Take a look at the -i and -m flags to netstat 4. Read tuning(7). You may need to tweak some things. 5. try a 'make buildkernel'. If there are some hardware problems, it will fail.
