Well, I have a number of AccelRAID 352s which are a faster version of
the 170 with dual channels.
The IOs per second of each card is published on the Mylex web site. You
should make sure you can live with that first. No idea how they test, but
likely it is based on 100% cache hits.
Generally I always install the largest cache possible in RAID
controllers, regardless of the application.
The stock mly driver is solid, but not a fast performer. Mike Smith has
