Answer the resulting never-ending deluge of questions from people asking why it behaves differently in different circumstances, and why it differs from the behavior they're used to seeing in <insert any other flavor of UNIX>. I'm sure others will complain of bloat if another flag is added to turn on such warnings - and I'm not convinced that it's a bad argument, but it's nowhere near as objectionable as changing the default behavior.
