[My apologies for not jumping into this thread early, in spite of Ertan's polite email of inquiry. Vacations, yada yada etc :-).] I can confirm this too. After my last go-around with this box I was able to get it running by removing uhci: [root@thoth /usr/src/sys/i386/conf]# uname -a FreeBSD thoth.seekingfire.com 7.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #0: Thu Dec 29 22:27:03 CST 2005 toor@thoth.seekingfire.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/THOTH i386 [root@thoth /usr/src/sys/i386/conf]# grep '###' THOTH ###device uhci # UHCI PCI->USB interface (### is the symbol I use for something that's been commented out for important reasons, so I don't later on mess with it) However, I'm occassionally seeing the box spontanouesly reboot: [root@thoth /usr/src/sys/i386/conf]# uptime 8:43AM up 17:42, 2 users, load averages: 0.01, 0.01, 0.06 It's not all that often, though I can occassionally trigger it with a buildworld/buildkernel (which is what killed it yesterday). [root@thoth /var/crash]# ls -l | grep Jan -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 2 Jan 9 15:01 bounds -rw------- 1 root wheel 451 Jan 9 15:01 info.6 -rw------- 1 root wheel 268042240 Jan 9 15:02 vmcore.6 Debugging and invariants are turned off in the kernel, and I currently lack the knowledge to do much with the vmcore in any case :-) The crashes are very likely unrelated to the usb problem (this box also runs pf and ipsec, either of which could be unhappy). I'm interested in hearing about stability of other 1600Rs under load. -T -- "The truth of a proposition has nothing to do with its credibility. And vice versa." -- Robert Heinlein
