G.morn' I'm out of the office this morning, using the FreeBSD Hypertext Man Pages I don't see an entry for gpt(8). Wandering through CVS web gave me the latest gpt.8. I guess since ia64 is still considered "tier 2" that it's unique man pages aren't available yet via the online man pages? thanks for the info. diana -----Original Message----- From: Marcel Moolenaar To: Arun Sharma Cc: freebsd-ia64@freebsd.org Sent: 2/13/2003 7:47 PM Subject: Re: FreeBSD ia64 install problems WAS: install on Dell Precision Work Station 730 On Thu, Feb 13, 2003 at 06:19:02PM -0800, Arun Sharma wrote: > > What's the recommended tool to set the GPT partition type ? That depends. If you're running Linux, use diskpart. If you only have EFI, get Intel's EFI tool. When running FreeBSD, use gpt(8). So far I always netboot a new machine and use gpt(8) to partition the disk. newfs(8) the partitions and copy bits over. Then I reboot the machine locally. Works like a charm. I hope we eventially get good EFI tools and/or have a good partitioner in the installer to deal with new machines. -- Marcel Moolenaar USPA: A-39004 marcel@xcllnt.net To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ia64" in the body of the message
