My test bed constructed by two level network, the lower is ATM network(three ATM switchs which fully connected). And three routers running freebsd(each one connect to one ATM switch). What I want to do is to use Rip or ospf as dynamic routing. But I found problem, the following is I copied from the trace file: Nov 16 22:45:06 Nov 16 22:45:06 task_send_packet: task RIP.0.0.0.0+520 socket 10 length 24 flags MSG_DONTROUTE(4) to 172.16.9.255+520: Can't assign requested address Nov 16 22:45:06 RIP *NOT* SENT 172.16.9.212 -> 172.16.9.255+520 vers 1, cmd Request, length 24 routing table request I defined a interface of pvc for ip address 172.16.9.212 , I think the problem might come from I do not define broadcast on ATM network. My question is "Is there anyway for me to define gated to send routing information without use broadcast ? After I start gated for 180 seconds, this message will come out from my screen: Nov 17:00:48:42 r2 mimic gated[10187]:if_rtdown: DOWN route for interface ni0 172.16.9.212/255.255.255 My another question is what does this sentence mean? Is any documents I could use to find information relate to this? I am really appreciate of your help to give me any suggestion? dijiang ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
