Having trouble booting from a new installation of FreeBSD 2.2.6.

Specifications:
486DX2
16MB RAM
2559.8 MB IDE DRIVE (Western Digital Caviar 22500)
	Jumper setting is single drive
	Drive parameters: 4960 cyl / 16 heads / 63 spt

I have installed FreeBSD at least 10 times without boot success.
Here's what I've done so far...

1) Made the boot floppy (makeflp.bat)
2) Booted machine with boot floppy (cdrom #1 in drive)

Scenario #1
Used the "whole" drive for FreeBSD, installation goes great and then
when rebooting,
    	I get a READ ERROR

Scenario #2
Created a 500MB DOS partition and then a 1.9GB FreeBSD partition.
Installed the Boot Manager.
Again, installation goes great and then when rebooting,
I get an option to select which partition to boot and pressing
F2 does nothing.

I read about this type of error in the FreeBSD book that came with this
media on page 85. It talks about
checking your drive geometry. I have done that (several times), but
machine still won't boot after installation.

I talked to your Tech Support Desk, who suggested I send this email. I
would appreciate your help!

Thnanks in advance!
