Yes they can get along quite well together, using either LILO or
booteasy.  The FreeBSD web page under tutorials has a documnet on
running FreeBSD with other Operating Systems.  The Linux documentation
Project at www.sunsite.unc.edu has HOWTO type docs with detailed
information.
