Please read carefully the answers. Here in Italy, we would say "you're drowning in a glass of water"... ;-) If you want to put your jobs in /etc/crontab, then *DON'T* "bring them up"! Simply open /etc/crontab, add your jobs, save the file and cron will run them automagically. Just in case you have to clean the root user's crontab after past trials, use "crontab -r". If you want to use users' crontabs, the syntax is different, so *DON'T* put "root" or any other user in the lines describing your jobs; that column doesn't exist in users' crontabs, because the jobs are always run as the owner of that crontab. --- Stefano Riva Software Engineer - Systems Administrator Informazioni Editoriali I.E.
